Omg, I'm going to lose my fic virginity
I can't quite believe I'm getting myself into this, but I'm also just about bursting with excitement. I'm in the [info]snarry_games this year, and it's going to be my first ever fic. I'm currently wibbling between two different bunnies (okay, more like four, but two I think are kind of winning out); one's a crack!fic and the other one's more introspective and could even be dark... I'm not really sure what to do, because I think the crack!fic is the sort of thing that would probably be quicker to write, giving more time to edit, and would probably be easier to wrap up in case my time gets short, but the darker fic has more meat on it in my imagination and I think I might prefer to work on it, but the more I flesh out the summary, the longer and more convoluted it looks like it's going to be plot-wise. If this were your first fest, would you go for the lighter choice, or the one you're kind of more enthusiatic to write?

Go with enthusiasm. I did in my first fest and I almost didn't finish in time, but it made me feel good about myself

You've got your whole team backing you up and willing to put up with you even if you spam the team comm with fic thoughts and snippets. ;)

Thanks! I might get both thoughts in order and make a post yet before I really definitely take the darker road, but it really helps to get an experienced opinion on this!!!

Experience, er....I'm as much a games virgin as you *g* I just whore myself out to all sorts of fests. It's a problem.

Going with your enthusiasm is never a bad choice. ;D

Also, and this is just my opinion, crack and humor are especially difficult to write well. Some very seasoned writers can't write humor at. all. You might just be a naturally funny person, but I don't think lighter automatically translates into easier. Good luck! I can't wait to read your fic.

Yes, thank you!

Definitely comedy can be a bee-atch, especially when you're down to the fine-tuning and you just haven't got the timing right (I think comedy writing still has a lot to do with timing). I have a lot of experience in writing comedy for the stage, but not so much in story format. What I imagine would be lighter about it would be that I'd probably be able to come up with a crack!ending if necessary, with much less damage to the piece as a whole, but the other one would probably require more plot fidelity. I don't know if that's more difficult or not (but I'm looking forward to finding out).

Thankee again!
